Arctic weather cont.

4th day this month schools in our state are closed. Today they even closed our college.
Sun is shining, snow sparkling, we are home. I guess it is cold out there...
My schedule was so full, I was complaining that I don't have time to get a haircut. I am thankful for this time off :)
Just scheduled an appointment for a haircut :)

afraid of thunderstorms???
May. 21st, 2012 12:02 pmIn the past several weeks, we had some very loud frightening thunder storms in the evenings or at nights. In the usually dark and quite evenings or at nights, the contrast of the bright doses of lightening and the loud thunders are really scaring kids and even I am sometimes feeling frightened.
I try to stay calm myself and calm kids saying that there has been many thunderstorms before and many to come. We are in a safe house and there is nothing to worry about at this time. In the morning we will see the light again.
My kids seems to be trusting me and going to bed, give me a kiss, wish good night and no more fuss as it used to be when they were younger.
I would check the weather alerts if our area is in danger for something more severe like tornadoes just to be sure that we don’t need to go to the basement or seek other safety plan. I would put kids into the beds and go to bed myself.
It might be a reasonable reasoning but I can’t guarantee 100% that everything is going to be OK. It is outside of my power! I have a fear that someday I will be wrong and my kids will experience something horrible related to the powers of nature. I can pray to G-d that it never happens to our family. I don’t want to tell kids that I might be wrong.
I guess I should stop thinking about “What if…” creating horrible images in my head.

b_zambak что поделилась информацией. Эти снежинки произвели фурор у нас дома. Детям очень понравилось вырезать и фантазировать. На наше удивление, у нас в Миннесоте в Декабре нет снега, так вот мы решили свои снежинки сделать. Мне так даже больше нравится... Занесу к себе в журнал на будущее.

- Maple Maze (indoor playground)
- Ice skating,
- Swimming Pool
- Library,
- Pet Shop
- Kid’s bookstores like www.wildrumpusbooks.com/
- Visit friends and grandparents :)
- Children's museum
- Skyzone
- Mall of America (kind of far from us)

our Saturday night advanture
Dec. 12th, 2010 12:44 amThis was one uncomfortable week. Started with me and Mishka getting sick on Sunday, then Michelle got ear infection and pink eye on Tuesday and then Boris got sick too and still is sick. Boris’ grandpa who is 95 was at the hospital not feeling well too this week. On Wednesday, Boris’ car got stock in the snow and he damaged something under the car. So on Friday we took it over to the shop and luckily, it got fixed on Friday evening before the storm. In addition to that my friend is going through some tough times right now.
In addition to all that we had a snow storm today with about 20 inches of snow covering everything around us. I stayed home all day wearing my pajamas and did not plan to leave house until Sunday morning. Then I got a phone call from Mishka’s teacher from religious school that there will be no school on Sunday at the synagogue so I didn’t even have to get out of the house until Sunday evening.

Муж совсем разбаловал дорогими подарками, мне аж неудобно. Даже не знаю какие подарки ему сделать, он не доволен когда я на него деньги трачу, его день рожденья скоро и годовщина свадьбы завтра.

Thunderstorms
Aug. 13th, 2010 04:05 pmLast night we had terrible thunderstorms in our area. The thunder was so loud and kept repeating over and over again and the lightning was so bright and so often I was scared. In the evening, we got into the thunderstorm while driving, by the time we got home it was over. In a few hours new thunderstorms started again and woke Michelle up.
I might have sleep through the night and wouldn’t even noticed the storm if it was not for Michelle. Poor girl got scared. As soon as I took her into my bed she fell asleep and was relatively calm. I was lying next to her and was pretty scared hearing the loud noises and feeling the house shake from time to time.
I have heard that there was a meteor shower that night and many different thoughts came through my mind hearing those very loud thunder sounds. I was thinking that the meteors falling down to Earth, then I thought that it sounds like a war zone with shooting tanks. I was surprised that we didn’t have tornado siren.
Today at work many of my co-workers reported that they had tornado sirens and they went to the basement. I guess tornadoes went by our area South East.
We have been having thunderstorm almost every other night. I hope it doesn’t get worse than this.
It is time to go home and it just started pouring raining here. My umbrella as usually is in my car. So, I will wait until the rain will stop.
