На прошлые выходные я побывала в Калифорнии на слёте Limmud FSU Westcoast. Это был слёт русскоязычных евреев Америки. Приманкой был Макаревич. Я бы не поехала б если б Макаревича там не было. Но в моём списке что я хочу перед тем как помру, живой концерт Макаревича был одним из пунктов.

По приезду в гостиницу где проходило мероприятие я стала видеть знакомые лица. Я стала присматриваться и задавать вопросы, но мы к сожалению нигде не пересекались. Все на слёте начали это замечать. Нас было 700 человек. Люди были целыми семьями с детьми. Все 700 чувствовали себя как одна большая и на удивление дружная семья!!! Это было уникальное чувство!!! Там были религиозные соблюдающие семьи и в основном как мы, и скептики, далёкие от Всевышнего люди.

Организаторы пригласили много очень интересных докладчиков и интересных людей на разные темы. Я ходила на несколько лекций связанных с семейными отношениями (Lori Palatnik, Dr. Doreen Seidler-Feller, Татьяна Славина) и , на лекции о истории (Игорь Щупак и Натан Шаранский), на комиков Илья Акселрод из Комеди Клуб, Гарик Сухарик ака баба Фира с Youtuba, и Виктор Шендерович. Всё было очень интересно и про Макаревича уже мало кто думал. Самое интересное, что концерт Макаревич получился не очень хорошим, мы все немного расстроились. Только под конец концерт разыгрался и это был конец... Макаревич так и не вышел к нам как все остальные известные личности.

Ночью, когда официальная программа закончилась, Лева взял гитару и почти всю ночь мы пели песни в вестибюле гостиницы. Вот одна песня, которую почему-то раньше не слышала, но уж очень запала на мою душу сейчас. Чиж "О Любви"

А ещё в Ноябре, я побывала в нашем Minnesota Orchestra Hall и слушала музыку русских композиторов: Чайковский, Прокофиев, Шостакович и Стрависнкий. Солист пианист был Кирилл Герштейн. Пианино звучало просто как волшебство, как жемчужинки! Я вообще не очень люблю слушать просто музыку без танцев, но часть с пианино была классная!

У нас в музее искуств (Minnesota Institute of Arts)выставка Итальянских мод с 1940ых годов до сегодняшнего дня. Взяла с собой девчёнок, Мишелку и её подружку Анечку. Нам понравилось... Выставка будет продолжаться до 4 января.

Yesterday, my girlfriends and I went to see a play, Hay Fever, at our Minneapolis Guthrie theater. We started with a dinner at the Indian restaurant next to my office called Dancing Ganesha and then drove over to the theater. The food was great but we had limited time, and rushed, rushed, rushed.

The play was wonderful. The stage set was amazing!!! I have never seen anything like this with so many beautiful details and colors. Just the stage itself was very impressive.
Actors were great.

At first I had hard time understanding everything they were saying but after a short while I got into tune. The play was about an English family who lives in a small town near by London. The family consists of mother, father, son and daughter. Kids are grown up. All members of the family are eccentric and self centered. Each invited a guest for a weekend. The family is not super hospitable and very dramatic which made the play very funny.

The clothing they were wearing was also remarkable. If there would have been Oscars and I would have been the judge, this play would’ve gotten an Oscar for the artistic stage set, for the costume design, best actress - Harriet Harris, and supporting actress role played by Heidi Bakke.

It was a satire on a dysfunctional family; however, I can see a lot of truth in their behavior. At one moment, I even saw myself and my family. It was an amusing and enjoyable show! I would recommend seeing it!

I don’t care about football and most of the sports but my husband and now my son are into it. So, either I like it or not if there is a Super Bowl, the TV is on and some years even with a lot of company in our house. I don’t usually watch it and not even interested in the so expected star commercials. Last night wasn’t any different. The only part that I watched was Madonna’s half time show. My husband insisted that I watch it.

Mishka asked us who is Madonna?
He got to see who she is. Then he said that she was singing one song wrong because he saw it on YouTube how it is done correctly by some guys. :) We had a long argument that Madonna was the first one to sing that song and whoever is doing it on YouTube is only making out their own adaptation.

She looked like she was still in her 20^th only moving a lot slower. She is over 50 now and it made me think, why celebrities don’t want to grow up and develop more grown up art that takes them further ahead instead of making them stuck in the old-young?

I wished to hear a new song, see something new and unique, at least one piece out of several. The show was great, spectacular-spectacular with old Madonna and her old songs where she wanted to look young. I don't know, but there is something that bothers me about our culture of wanting to be frozen in one period of our lives and not being able to embrace all ages as they come. Yes, we do grow and get old and even die, why fight this concept? Who are we fooling?

b_zambak что поделилась информацией. Эти снежинки произвели фурор у нас дома. Детям очень понравилось вырезать и фантазировать. На наше удивление, у нас в Миннесоте в Декабре нет снега, так вот мы решили свои снежинки сделать.
Мне так даже больше нравится... Занесу к себе в журнал на будущее.

No time for computer or LJ. I have been cooking, drawing, reading and spending time with kids instead of spending the time in the virtual world of Face Book, LJ and e-mails. I leave computer stuff at work.

On Saturday night I took Michelle to a concert by Okee Dokee brothers at children’s bookstore The Wild Rumpus. I have never been there before and it is actually pretty far away from our house but I was planning to meet with a friend and her little son there, so I took Michelle while my husband took Mishka to hockey practice. We came late for the concert but still had a lot of fun. There were a lot of kids with their parents. Singers were adorable and fun. The bookstore has a lot of animals in the cages like parrots, chickens, chinchillas, rats and a cat. Of course, there are plenty of books and games and toys. It is a small but very cute store with a character. In the crowd we found our friends and hangout at the bookstore after the concert was over.

Our winter is in full force, snow is on the ground, temperatures range from 18F (-7C) and lower. The day light is very limited. Sometimes we have sunny days and some days are just dark and cold. Mostly, I spend time at work in the office and by the time I get home it is dark like in the middle of the night.

Mishka’s last day of 2^nd grade was last Wednesday. On Thursday, he wanted to go to work with me. I am super busy these days and told him that I will take him to work with me sometime during the summer. He went over to grandma’s daycare. Since we have this convenient arrangement, I have not been thinking through his summers and I need to start!!!
