ahka | Summer plan for Mishka

Mishka’s last day of 2^nd grade was last Wednesday. On Thursday, he wanted to go to work with me. I am super busy these days and told him that I will take him to work with me sometime during the summer. He went over to grandma’s daycare. Since we have this convenient arrangement, I have not been thinking through his summers and I need to start!!!

He is very athletic and has a lot of energy. He is in soccer league this summer but that is only twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evening. I suggested that he could join Harmony summer camp but he refused. He said that he has stage fright and does not want to be an actor.

So, far I was thinking to do something with him and his friends on Fridays. I hope my plan will work. This Friday I took him and his friend to the SkyZone:

It was a lot of fun for all of us. I jumped with them and was tired after first 10 minutes. 30 minutes was enough but boys wanted an hour, so we stayed there for an hour!

Now, I am looking at the sport camps in the area. As I wrote before, there might be a state shut down in July, so I might spend more time with him. Only I will have to look for activities that don’t cost a lot because we are going to be without any income at that time. All fun activities cost money. I will be brainstorming some of these activities and of course, he can always go to the grandma’s daycare.

I was hoping that he would do summer school and put him on the waiting list. I am still waiting for them to call me and let me know if he will enroll or not. I really want him to do some guided reading, math and especially writing. Unfortunately, I will have to get on my case with those activities. I got a good math game book and will have to make him write some sentences again. I ordered a new book 38 Clues for him and I hope he will like to read it as much as he liked Wimpy Kid books. Boris and I decided to give him a week of freedom and then we will make him do reading and writing everyday (we need some strength to stick to the plan!!!).

There will be some free concerts and events in our city in July, we can go to the Como Zoo, to the sculpture garden, to the lakes, go fishing with grandpa, visit friends, play with neighborhood kids, any other ideas?
