Lately, we have been proud of Mishka. After starting to read with interest his Wimpy Kid books, he started reading everything and writing better. Last two spelling tests he did 100% correct and even on pretests would miss one or two words unlike before all were wrong on pre-tests.
He is doing well in math. The mistakes he makes are only because of not paying close attention to some important detail. Generally, looking at the tests they do in class, he would miss one or 2 problems out of 10 or more.
It seems that time has arrived for him to breakthrough with his academic comprehension to the next level.
His behavior is also improving. I noticed that on the days he has activities, which is Tuesdays –Lego at school, Wednesdays – hockey (skating for hockey), Saturday – soccer and Sunday – Religious school he behaves much more mature, doesn’t cry as much, doesn’t complain about everything as much and doesn’t fight with his sister.
We as parents have been pretty slow in getting him busy with activities but now I see a lot of benefits and exploring other options for other days. Before, I was afraid that because of the activities we wouldn’t be able to do his homework but now that homework doesn’t take as much time and he is doing well in his classes, I should definitely add more activates.
I actually let him tell me what activities he wants to participate in. He loves soccer and he asked for hockey himself, even though didn’t know how to skate. Maybe I should add another section of hockey. I plan to sign him up for the soccer league in our city in the spring.
We need to get on the ball and get him busy now that he is into sports and fun activities.
