adventuresome day
Jul. 17th, 2010 11:00 pmI am pretty tired and should be going to sleep instead of being on the computer. I need to keep my laptop away from my bed!!!!
I was hoping to get some sleep in the morning, since Saturdays are my sleep-in days but kids and Boris came and woke me up at 10am. I did not want to go downstairs because I knew that there is a total mess on the kitchen.
Boris was hoping to install water filter by Friday that he purchased on Wednesday. He did not want to pay $135 for installation and I think after spending this many days to install it by himself, he is ready to pay someone even more then $135! Just to make it work without water leakage.
So, that means that we have bunch of boxes, plus a lot of instruments on the kitchen. We can’t use the kitchen sink, so there is a bunch of dirty dishes since Friday. Flies are multiplying by the hour and I don’t even want to go there and see that mess. Just the thought that all those dirty dishes are waiting for me is dragging me down. As you understand, the pile is just getting bigger and bigger, not any smaller.
In the morning I took Misha (7) and his cousin Liza (9) to the Maple Grove days event while Michelle took nap at home with Boris. It was super hot day and there were not as many people outside of the community center as it was last few years. Most of the people were inside enjoying the air-conditioning. We had to get inside a few times to cool off. Kids didn’t even wear hats, even though I told them to put their hats on. We spent about 2 hours there and called Boris to pick us up. We were lucky that Michelle woke up by then and we didn’t have to walk home.
Then it was time to go to the lake for our friends’ birthday party picnic. This is a couple (husband and wife) and their birthdays just a few days apart. So, every year they make one picnic birthday party at the lake. Most of the years it worked out very well and the weather was beautiful. Last year, however, we went to the same spot and it was pretty cold and windy. So, this year it was nice and warm for a while but then it started raining. We had umbrellas and for the first time I got to use stroller rain cover up that I bought when Michael was born.
At first I enjoyed the rain, however, after a while it got colder and windier. Then a tornado siren went off. It was a very loud siren! The interesting thing was when the tornado siren went off, we already could see blue sky and the sun. We decided to just wait it out. So, we did!
Kids enjoyed the rain and got soaking wet. Well, we held Michelle under the umbrella and older kids once in a while came under our umbrella to warm up under the blanket that I was covering my back with.
For so many years, we have been taking for granted nice weather at the lake. It was expected that it must be nice and warm in the middle of July. But now, we see that it is not always the case. Nevertheless, we had a great time plus it will be a memorable event with an adventure.
On the way home, it started raining again and it was a very strong storm. There was a tornado not too far away from us in our county. I was glad that kids fell asleep in the car and didn’t see the storm. I was scared to be in the car. A lot of cars parked under the bridges on the freeway and Boris just drove through the wind and rain. I was happy to get home!
When we walked into the house, I actually wanted to run away when I saw the mess on the kitchen and number of flies there! I hope flies will stay on the kitchen and would not decide to go upstairs!!!
I will have to deal with all of that tomorrow :(
