movie making frustration

I have been working on putting together a movie about my dad's party.  Actually, I created one successfully, only my "clients" were not satisfied with the first version and asked me to redo it using other video material that was better quality then the one I used.

My computer is very slow and it took a really long time to complete the 1st movie.  Anyway, I started working on the second one.  I got almost to the end and my Pinacle crashed.  Boris can' t find the installation disk to reinstall it.  I am just so frustrated again.  It took so much of my time already and again for nothing.

I truly enjoy making these movies when the program works well.  However, it has been so slow!  I would click on a file that I want to add to the movie and it will take about 3 to 4 minutes to open, then I would move it and it will take same amount of time to get there.... There is an end to my patience...
I guess these few weeks were not my lucky movie making weeks :(

Any recommendations for a good movie making program that is affordable?

unfortunately I don't think it is the program, but more likely a different computer that you need. With more and more video files these days being in HD format, it requires substantial "horse" power on the computer to mess with them. I'd say if you were to invest in something, invest in a faster PC (not laptop, btw, but an actual desktop). Most of them come with basic movie making programs, so you'll be set for that.

Thank you Leva, I know, I need to do it on a stationary computer (we have 2 of those in the house btw only I don't like their locations) I guess I have to make a case to Boris for getting me normal computer upstairs :)
