Teacher Parent Conference.
Last week we had a teacher parent conference at Mishka’s school.  This time we had to bring him with us.  It seems that he is doing well, yet needs to work on some skills.  They were tested on various subjects and he did very well on math additions and not so well on subtraction, he reads fast and well but on the quizzes about the stories he is not doing so well; mainly because he does not listen to the questions on the quiz.

He is doing very good on spelling but his handwriting is very bad plus he is holding  pen incorrectly.  We have been fighting with him since kindergarten.  He is refusing to hold it right and writes letters the way he wants to write it and not the way he was taught.  So, now I give him additional homework of writing letters on the letter worksheets that I found on the internet.  At the school they already gave him this robber thing to put on the pencil or a pen that makes fingers hold the pen/pencil correctly but he refused to use it.

Teacher complained that as soon as she does not pay attention to him, he stops doing his work and gets busy with his desk or other stuff around him instead of writing or reading.  We discussed if he should seat closer to her, so there will be less destructions.

I told teachers that Michael complains that everything going very fast in class.  Both teachers agreed that they speak very fast and will try to slow down.  We were surprised that there were no complaints about his behavior.

Call from the teacher #2
Today, Michael’s teacher called and told me that she does not know what happened but Michael’s backpack disappeared.  They search the whole school and announced it to the whole school and his back pack was missing.  She also told me that he told her that he had an iPod in his backpack that his older brother gave him.

That was an interesting comment because I told her that he does not have an iPod and does not have an older brother.  We laughed with her at his fantasies.

I remember that he had his backpack in the car in the morning.  Then, after I dropped him off at my mom’s daycare, I had no clue if he took it with him or not.  I called my mom and found that he actually went to school without a backpack.

I called the teacher and told her to relax that back pack is found.

On the day that I was going to Indiana, while driving in the car over my parents’ house I told Mishka that grandpa plans to take him to the movies while Michelle will nap.  He asked me about the movie.  I had no clue what movie my dad was planning to take him and I told him to ask grandpa when we get there.

After a small pause, Mishka almost screaming said:

-I want to see ONLY SEX & THE CITY!!!

Boris and I were a little bit shocked, we did not expect this turn of the conversation.  Boris thought that it was hilarious, so he called his mom to tell about it.  After Boris told his mom what happened, Mishka asked to talk to grandma.  The first thing he said to her was:

-Grandma, what is SEX?

Boris and I started laughing even harder.  Grandma, told him to ask his parents this question.  Luckily, we got to our destination and changed the subject.  I don’t think that 7 year old is ready to learn about sex yet.

So, after this incident, Lyuda told me this story:

on Monday, he was running on the bus stop and repeating pretty loud:

-Sex and the City, Sex and the City, Sex and the City, Sex and the City nonstop.

On the bus stop was one mom who was dressed in a very short skirt with very open breasts.  She decided to calm Mishka down and told him to stop saying this.  To her comment he innocently and simply said:

-It’s only a movie!
