Michelle has an alergic reaction to some bug that bit her

This morning started as usually.  However, when I got to the daycare, I showed my mom Michelle’s swollen hand.  It swelled up on Sunday morning a little around her knuckles.  I thought that she got bitten by a bug (I guess a spider or who knows).  This morning the swelling got to her wrist.

 

It looks horrible; however, it does not seem to bother her.  She is not itching it, she moves her hand and fingers freely and she is in a good mood.  When we touch the swollen area, it does not bother her.  My mom told me that I should show it to the doctor as soon as possible because it is just getting bigger.  So, I called my clinic to make an appointment and was planning to take her see the doctor at 10:40am.  I also called work and told them that I will come after 1pm, so they should do something with my morning clients.

In addition to the swollen hand, she also got some sand in her eye.  She played in the sand last night at the playground for the first time in her life and was too excited splashing the sand all over the place with her tools.

So, I just stayed at the daycare hanging out with the kids.  To my fortune, one of the girl’s mom at the daycare is a pediatrician and she brought her daughter later then usually.  She was a pediatrician in Russia, then in Israel, and now she is doing her residency in USA.  So, I showed Michelle to her and she checked out everything and said that it seems like an allergic reaction.  We circled the red and swollen area with a marker.  She said that we can just put some hydrocortisone on it and watch for other symptoms such as swelling getting larger and baby getting a fever.  If it gets to that point, Michelle would need to get antibiotics.

In regards to the sand in the eye, she said not to worry at all.  It will get out by itself.  So, I was so happy that I didn’t have to miss full day of work and pay for the doctor visit again.  I already have a lot of bills from Michael’s recent doctor visits.

So, now I think I need to buy something to get rid of the bugs in the house if they cause such problem.
