Happy Shavuot!
May. 19th, 2010 11:02 pmI totally missed Shavuot this year. We have not had our Torah lectures because of the various reasons since Passover and I am somewhat sad about that. Masha has been busy with her own life and did not think of telling us more about this holiday this year. I did not pursue it either. I was hoping that we would resume this week, but because of the Shavuot, we will resume our weekly lectures next week.
The only thing I remembered from last year is that we read Megillat Ruth. It is also a day on which G-d gave Jews Torah. Usually, religious Jews study Torah all night and eat dairy products. I hope to learn more as we study Torah further. So far we stopped on the part about 12 brothers sons of Israel (Jacob).
I found this website through which I can start learning Hebrew alphabet and some simple words
