ahka | Sick in March

On Saturday, when I went to get haircut I did not dress very warm since the sun was shining and it looked pretty happy outside. My stylist was busy with other customers and suggested that I come back in 30 minutes for my appointment.

I went for a walk in the outside Arbor Lakes mall. As I walked down the mall, I was getting colder and colder. I sTopped by at some stores to warm up. I did not buy anything, well only a card for my parent's wedding anniversary.

On Sunday, my throat got really sore. I kept drinking tea with lemo and kept ignoring my sore throat. Before going to bed my throat felt really bad. However, in the morning it felt a little bit better and I actually went to work. I felt really crappy at work but since I was there, I did not want to leave.

I was glad that almost all clients on Monday didn’t show up and I managed to go through all my e-mails, do some important paperwork and finish some other things that needed to be finished.

I asked Boris to pick up kids from daycare. When I got home, on Monday, I measured my temperature and I had 38.4C (over 101F). I took tylonol, had more tea with lemon and took a nap before our evening Torah study.

On Tuesay, when I woke up my throat was hurting, my ears were in pain and nose was stuffed up. Also, I found that my thyroid medication prescription had expired and I had to do blood work to renew it. Knowing that some kids had ear infections, one had strep throat and others just had runny noses, during the week that I was helping out my mom at the daycare, I thought that I had some sort of an infection, either ear or a strep. So, I called doctor’s office and made an appointment to check for infections and do blood work for the medication.

During the morning, I couldn’t get any rest because I had so much stuff to do. I completed our visa applications online and took pictures of us for the visa. I ordered pictures at Sam’s club, however, when Boris went there to pick up the pics, their printer did not work and I had to reorder pics at the Wallgreen’s instead.

Then, I went through all video material for the project.

Then my mom called and said that Michelle is sick and that she is holding onto her ears and crying. I called Michelle’s doctor and made an appointment for her to check for ear infection. The appointment was almost at the same time as mine. So, Boris took Michelle to the doctor and I went to my doctor.

Both of us were diagnosed with virus that should clear soon. Both of us had stuffy and runny noses and felt pretty miserable. Well, at least I did. Michelle looked pretty happy playing with her toys and running around.

I was feeling worth and worth, my ears started to ring and hurt. I took medication and went to bed to get some sleep. I took Michelle with me, but she was just playing with me. I asked Boris to take care of Michelle while I would get some rest.

When I woke up, Michelle was sleeping. It was around 8:30pm. I ate and decided to catch up on some other work. I finally typed up minutes from the Harmony board meeting and played a little on FaceBook.

By the time I was ready to sleep, Michelle woke up. I ended up not sleeping until almost 2am. Finally, I put her in bed and she slept until 7am. I woke up feeling not well, plus very sleepy. I decided to stay home one more day. Hopefully, I will be able to get more rest today.

I also miss Mishka. I have not seen him since Monday morning when I brought Michelle to the daycare. He has been staying at my parents since Sunday night. It seems that he is enjoying his spring break at the grandparents.

I noticed, that at least once every two years in March, around my dad’s birthday I get sick with some infection or a virus. There is something about this time of year and my body.
