Happy Passover!

Last night we had a 1st seder at my house. I wanted it to be a small family event with focus on learning more about the holiday. I was pleasantly surprised that Mishka knew a lot about this holiday and about the Jewish people. His religious school is teaching him something. So, after work I run home to cook while Boris picked up kids and did some shopping.
I invited only my friend Lena who is studying Torah with us on Wednesday nights. I thought it would be important to have an outsider so Boris wouldn’t cancel the whole celebration. I was right.
All day long Boris was calling me at work trying to convince me not to have the 1st seder on Monday because he has a lot of work to do. I told him that if he won’t work for 2 days during holidays, his family will survive and if he has more complains about Passover falling on Monday, he should address it not to me but to G-d.
My seder was not as kosher as it supposed to be but we did discuss the exodus and followed the steps from the kids’ Hagadah. I managed to light candles on time and recite the blessing. Candles continued to light through the whole evening and I actually blew them off before I went to bed.
Lena came with her husband and then my friend Alina and her bf came too. I actually really liked that we had some guests. Michelle enjoyed entertaining everyone and Mishka was sleepy after a while and kept interrupting us. I had a few books from which we read and I made Boris do the vine blessings and read other parts of the Hagada.
Tonight we are going to the real and kosher 2nd seder. Michelle will stay with the grandma. I don’t know how Mishka will make it. It will start at 9pm, that’s his bed time but it is important that he participates.
Happy Passover to all my Jewish friends!
