ahka | Mosquito repellents

My little baby girl has been numerously bitten by mosquitoes. I look at her red spots all over her face, arms and legs and feel so sorry. I use hydrocortisone with aloe to reduce itching and started using more bug spray and explore other options.

My mother-in-law told me about things that one can carry with them that makes mosquitoes stay away. So , on Friday night we set with her and my laptop and started looking at all kinds of repellents. We found some bracelets and devices. She suggested that I get those things to keep bugs away from Michelle. I was so concerned, I didn't care about the prices. I guess my motherly instinct just wanted to protect my little girl no matter what....

So, this week I got the bracelets, they are rubber and stink. Of course, Michael was excited about the bracelets and opened all packs. The excitement subsided very fast and now I don’t even know what he did with one pack. Today, I put the bracelet on Michelle’s leg since she does not want it on her arm. It shouldn’t bother her on the leg too. So, will see the result today if she got any new bites.

Also, just yesterday I got the ThermaCELL Mosquito Repellent and did not have time to read what it is all about. I will try this device at the daycare, however, it works only on 15x15 ft areas and it has to be away from reach of children. So, we would have to find some safe place to put it so it would be as effective as possible. It must be used only outdoors!!! It must be away from water and wind!!!!

Three are a lot of warnings on the box and I am even thinking that this may not be such a good idea to use it. I wonder if it negatively impacts the environment too.

I did not open the box yet and thinking if I need to return it back. Well, I don’t know, is it better to be bitten by mosquitoes or have something toxic in the air that will prevent the mosquitoes?
