On Saturday, Michael asked me if we can go ice skating.  He got into the groove of skating after going to the ice center in CA.  I checked our community center’s website and learned that they have open ice and the theme of the day was Sun day.  That meant that if you dress in yellow, you get 50% off.  It sounded even better.  So, our whole family went to our community center ice skating.  Including 2 year old Michelle.  I was curious if they would have her size skates.  We found pretty close to her size she is 6 now but ice skates were 8.

I have not skated in a long time but used to be pretty good.  Boris has been on ice may be 3 times in his life and this was #4.  First time he was holding onto the wall, now he got a little progress and can actually skate on his own.  I was scared to let him skate with Michelle but he did pretty good.

Mishka also can skate on his own and he is fearless!  However, he is not very confident on ice and falling a lot.  He got a lot of bruises on his legs from falling.  Now, he wants to get into hockey!  I found that there is 1st level hockey where they teach kids skate only.  One session starts this week on Wednesdays.  He is on the waiting list now.  Next session starts in March.  Boris will take him this Wednesday and see if they will allow him to join in or not.  Also, I want him to look at what kids will be doing during this practice.

Both Michael and Michelle were enjoying skating and did not want to leave.  I took our camera to take pictures but Mishka kept running away from us, so I didn't make even one pic of him.

Boris and I were substituting each other with Michelle.  Unfortunately, our community center does not have metal trainers, so one of us had to hold her hands and make sure she wouldn’t fall.  She was not wearing a helmet (we need to get one for her).  My and Boris’ legs and back were killing us riding with her.  I thought that after making 1st circle Boris will get off the ice but he continued and we actually spent over an hour skating.  When we were leaving, Michelle was crying very loud with big tears telling us that she wants more (исё кататса!!! (ещё кататься)).  I was impressed that she could walk on the floor without holding to anything on her skates.  Also, by the end she stopped hanging on me and could walk-skate by herself.  I wouldn’t let her do it totally alone because she was not wearing helmet and she is only 2!!!  So, this was Michelle's 1st time on ice! :)
