I wish you all ENOUGH like in this popular saying that I don't know who the author is but many books repeat it.  If you know the author, please, let me know!!!

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye."

Here is a story that our Rabbi Goldberger shared with us on Friday:
Although Chanukah is now behind us, I cannot let it fade into a distant memory without sharing with you this incredible but true story.

Last night we had a 1st seder at my house.  I wanted it to be a small family event with focus on learning more about the holiday.  I was pleasantly surprised that Mishka knew a lot about this holiday and about the Jewish people.  His religious school is teaching him something.  So, after work I run home to cook while Boris picked up kids and did some shopping.

I listened to the lecture http://torahanytime.com/Rabbi/Search/index.html?lecture=xmas&lecture_ID

By Rabbi Lawrence Kelemen about Xmas and New Years.  The lecture is less than 40 minutes long.  I downloaded and listened to it in the car.

Rabbi Kelemen explained that Jesus was not born on December 25th, Xmas tree, mistletoe, ginger bread man, and Santa Claus have nothing to do with Christianity or December 25th.  In this lecture, he is providing facts and historical evidence about those holidays and traditions.  Rabbi Keleman explained that all of those traditions came out of horrible pagan traditions during which there were a lot of gruesome killings that grew into public anti-Semitic events.

No time for computer or LJ.  I have been cooking, drawing, reading and spending time with kids instead of spending the time in the virtual world of Face Book, LJ and e-mails.  I leave computer stuff at work.

On Saturday night I took Michelle to a concert by Okee Dokee brothers at children’s bookstore The Wild Rumpus.  I have never been there before and it is actually pretty far away from our house but I was planning to meet with a friend and her little son there, so I took Michelle while my husband took Mishka to hockey practice.  We came late for the concert but still had a lot of fun.  There were a lot of kids with their parents.  Singers were adorable and fun.  The bookstore has a lot of animals in the cages like parrots, chickens, chinchillas, rats and a cat.  Of course, there are plenty of books and games and toys.  It is a small but very cute store with a character.  In the crowd we found our friends and hangout at the bookstore after the concert was over.

Shabbat, Days 6 and 7
On Friday we were preparing for Shabbat.  In the morning we had a lecture about power of candle lighting and women’s prayers.  Then we made CHalah bread and learned cool ways to braid it.  During the process we prayed all together for people who need health or something that a miracle is needed for.  The power of 150+ women praying is a huge power.  I hope it will help my friend beat cancer and another friend to finally have a baby.

The day started sour but ended very sweet!
Good company, good neighbors, and absolutely adorable kids made the day full of laughs and enjoyment.
Happy 4th of July!

May 9th 1945 USSR officially announced end of the World War II and its Victory.  Every year we celebrate this day because every family in the former USSR was impacted by this war in one way or the other; probably not only in USSR but in other countries too.

My grandmother on my mom’s side she fought in this war and was wounded.  The huge scar or I would say a big gap in her calf on her leg always reminded me that she was fighting in the war.  As a child I was so proud of that!  The family from my dad’s side evacuated out of Kiev and their life was not easy.  My dad was only 1 year old when the war begun.

This year, this holiday brings pain to the fresh wound.  One of our closest veterans, Boris’ grandfather had passed just a few months ago.  He went through the war from day one to Berlin in 1945 and in the middle of the war got stuck in Leningrad siege.  He lived to 95. It is painful to think that we can never visit him or call him on May 9th to say “happy victory day.” :(
